How do reciprocating compressors work?

Reciprocating compressors primarily use crankshaft-driven pistons to compress gas. Compressors with positive displacement work with gas or air in the compressed chamber, the volume of which is mechanically reduced, the pressure in the compressor increases during the process, the stages (compression cylinders) isolate the gas by pressing it. Compressors can be single or double design, in a single design the process takes place on one side of the piston, in a double design the process takes place on both sides of the piston.
