When it comes to commercial transport, diagnostics is not just reading error codes. Every stationary truck is an unplanned loss: the equipment does not generate revenue, customer orders are delayed, and the reputation suffers.
After more than ten years working with truck and trailer diagnostics, I have understood a simple rule: a diagnostic tool must not only “show errors” but also help to quickly understand their cause and provide a solution.
That is why many service centers and transport companies today choose the smart Jaltest solution. In this article, I will answer the most frequently asked questions and help you choose the equipment according to real needs, not according to advertising.
Why do I work with Jaltest and why do I recommend it to clients?
There are many systems on the market, but Jaltest stands out for its flexibility, functionality, and real practicality. It is a system that:
- Works with various vehicles: trucks, semi-trailers, buses, agricultural machinery, heavy construction equipment, warehouse equipment, and even ships
- Is constantly updated and expanded – especially relevant when working with newer models
- Supports many manufacturers and electronic systems
- Offers additional modules
- Has a clear, logical user interface – this helps reduce learning time
The Jaltest software is installed on a laptop, and the connection to the vehicle is made via the OBD port using a special adapter and cables.
How to choose the right Jaltest license?
The first step is usually to understand exactly what you work with:
Service type |
Recommended configuration |
Mobile service |
Full truck license + trailer license + cable set |
Specialized service |
Single brand license + Jaltest INFO PLUS |
Service with a mixed fleet |
All trucks + trailer license + additional accessories |
Briefly about the licenses:
- Single brand (e.g., only DAF or MAN): suitable for specialized services
- Full license: if you work with various manufacturers or have a mixed fleet
- Trailer license: additional but necessary to perform full diagnostics
My advice – it is better to have a wider license than to return to the client because of an “unsupported” system.
INFO PLUS: Why is it more than just a database?
Jaltest INFO PLUS is a real tool for solving problems, not “just an add-on”:
- Detailed electrical diagrams
- Component locations
- Wire color markings
- Diagnostic sequences and repair instructions
- Principles of operation of sensors and modules
This is especially useful not only for new mechanics but also for experienced specialists who want to work faster and more accurately.
Key Jaltest accessories – what is worth having?
Accessory |
Benefit |
Jaltest SST |
Checking speed sensors without disassembly |
Jaltest WST |
Checking brake pad wear |
Jaltest ETM |
Testing electronic modules separately from the vehicle |
Jaltest PTE |
Checking electrical connections between truck and trailer |
AdBlue cleaning kit |
Quick cleaning of the AdBlue system – without expensive disassembly procedures |
Computers for diagnostics – what do we choose in practice?
- Panasonic, Lenovo (used): economical option to start
- Jaltest GEN2: robust, designed to work with Jaltest software – my personal recommended choice, especially for mobile services
Live example: Petras from Marijampole
Petras manages a mixed fleet: 18 trucks (MAN, DAF, Mercedes) and 12 semi-trailers. After consultation, he chose:
- Full Jaltest truck license
- Additional trailer license
- INFO PLUS database
- Full cable set
Results:
- Diagnostics time reduced by ~40%
- Faster resolution of AdBlue and electronics problems
- Fewer stationary vehicles – lower costs
FAQ – what do clients most often ask?
Does Jaltest work without the internet?
Yes, the internet is not needed for diagnostics, but it is necessary for updates or to receive technical support.
Can it be used without license renewal?
Some licenses work without renewal, but some must be continued.
For example, Modular (for trucks, trailers, individual brands) must be renewed, otherwise access to the program will be blocked.
The CV license usually works without renewal, but in this case you will not receive new data and updates, so the diagnostic capabilities will be limited, especially for newer models.
How much do annual updates cost?
It depends on the license – on average from €300 to €800 per year.
Can the license be changed (e.g., from DAF to MAN)?
Yes, contact the supplier – both brand changes and upgrades to the full version are possible.
An investment that pays off
I often hear: “Are there cheaper options?”. Yes, there are. But Jaltest is chosen by those who care not only about “reading the error” but:
- Finding the cause quickly
- Getting reliable information in real conditions
- Saving time and money
- Having a tool for growth – without additional equipment, just by expanding licenses
Jaltest systems are valued not for their low price, but for their reliability and benefits: they pay off quickly and retain long-term value.
